LES HOUCHES

Les Houches is the home of the Verte Piste and the Chamonix FIA World Cup course and offers some great skiing for beginners, and intermediates in particular on its dorsteps. It is therefore also ideal for family ski holidays in the Chamonix Valley and high above the Prarion Gondola this is a great nursery area that includes a 'magic carpet' travelator and a specially adapted chair lift, slow moving and with an additional safety bar for children.

The village itself is nowadays is really more a small town and can be divided into two areas, the Village centre and Taconnaz, and the Les Chavants and Le Cret areas. Across the valley there is also Coupeau which is also part of the  Les Houches commune.

Coupeau

Coupeau (and Les Praz - see Chamonix) is probably the most desirable residence in the Chamonix Valley. Facing the Mont Blanc Massif and with an elevated south west facing aspect, Coupeau is a small and intimate enclave where the rich and fabulously wealthy residents of Chamonix reside in this very sunny position. The luxury chalets that adorn Coupeau are simply on a grand scale and all are set amongst pine trees with stunning views of the Mont Blanc Massif opposite. 

Whilst the all the luxury ski chalets here have outstanding aspects, luxury Chalet Panoramique probably has the most outstanding. Set high in the woods, it enjoys unintterupted views across the Chamonix Valley, straight at Mont Blanc. It really does has to be seen to be seen to be believed and is one of Chamonix's premier luxury ski chalets with its high wood beam ceilings and floor to ceiling windows maximising the view.

Les Chavants and Le Cret

The Verte Piste and the ski areas are located in the Les Chavants and Le Cret areas of Les Houches. Le Cret and Les Chavants are both south facing and the hamlets are rural and prettyBeing close to the slopes and in one of the sunniest positions in the Chamonix Valley Les Chavants and Le Cret are two of the most desirable residences in the Chamonix Valley. A sort after position, you will therefore find a large array of high quality luxury chalets located in this exclusive rural hideaway and from time to time 'A list' celebrities who appreciate its unintrusive luxury.

Les Houches (Main Village and Tacconaz)

Whilst the main village is a short walk or drive from the ski areas, it is a superb choice as it offers a central location to the Les Houches and Brevent ski lifts. The main square of Les Houches is pretty and has received a great deal of investment recently. The one drawback is the fact that the main street goes straight through the centre, but this aside there are a limited number of bars and restaurants to frequent and it is a very pleasant place to be.

Les Houches Apres-Ski Bars and Restaurants

In Les Houches, the opening of the Kitsch Inn this season, next to the Bellevue Ski lift is sure to have a dramatic impact and this looks set to be the main place to be once the lifts close with live music and a really chic interior that follows on from the very successful Delice Bar that is owned by one of the Kitsch Inn partners. Based on the successful recipe of the Delice, expect plenty of late night drinking and dancing on tables!
